Frequently Asked Questions

How much does the Greenville Fellows program cost?

The fee for the full year's program is $6,500. You are welcome to pay this yourself but we'd encourage you to consider raising support to help cover the cost. We'd love to assist you in this process by training and advising you along the way.

Please keep in mind that all Fellows are placed into paid internships and all salary earned from your job is yours to use as you see fit. Most Fellows earn approximately $13,000 during their 9-month internship.

Also, to keep the program affordable and to increase the Christian community around you, each Fellow is housed at no cost by a family from Mitchell Road Presbyterian Church.

Do you offer scholarships?

Yes! We have scholarship money available for qualified applicants based on need and/ or merit, so please talk to Cari if you would like to apply.

How is the Fellows program perceived

by graduate schools and employers?

The Fellows Program develops and fosters discipline, focus, and commitment while also providing exceptional learning experience and an understanding of the workplace. It shows the capacity for strong leadership as well as flexibility in a

dynamic work place.

In other words, they'll love you.

What's the deal with this Host Family thing?

Sometimes this part of the program can make Fellows slightly anxious. We understand - moving in with a family you don't know comes with a lot of unknowns and potential challenges, so we're glad you asked!

We spend a lot of time interviewing and training our host families to equip them for their Fellow, and our steering committee performs a very involved matching process to pair each Fellow with their host family. Our host families love Jesus and are committed to loving and supporting their Fellow for the duration of the program.

We don't drop you into your new housing situation and bail out. Our host family coordinator constantly evaluates the relationships and conducts ongoing training for host families, and Cari is always available to discuss any challenges that might arise along the way. Many of our Fellows have formed lifelong relationships with their hosts and we think you will as well!

Is it a mistake to delay my first job 9 months

to participate in the Fellows program?

The honest answer is, "it depends" and we are happy to discuss it with you if you'd like. Having said that, here are a few thoughts. 1) Seek the Lord's will in this. You may not get the answer written in the sky, but He will honor your faithfulness and make any "mistake" valuable and beautiful. 2) If you are like most, this may very well be the only time in your life that you can set aside for a foundational program like this. We often hear older friends confess their jealously for the Fellows experience!

Can I justify paying tuition for the program when I could be earning a salary from a job over these 9 months?

Great question and if you have a clear calling to that job, you might should go that route. However, we'd challenge you to not do it only because of the money. Our Fellows earn and save money through their part time jobs and subsidized expenses. As a Fellow, you pay no rent and many meals (not all) are covered. We guesstimate that your income will be around $13,000 and your expenses will be about $6,000 less then if you were "on your own." Not too shabby!

Should I pursue ministry or a secular job?

Your question is why we exist! God has a way of challenging our preconceptions and expanding our views. Come spend 9 months with us learning how to focus that question, trust the answer and move forward with (more) confidence and excitement.
